Take the First Steps…
First Things First
Are you, or your child, struggling with things more days than not? Have things become more challenging - communicating with loved ones, navigating everyday difficulties, quieting the internal critic…Or have you realized that the life you are living could be brighter, happier, more contented?
These are all reasons that people seek out therapy. They are looking for a different way to be in this world. A lighted path out of their pain and distress. Therapy helps them see that the light shines from within themselves.
You can expect therapy to feel like a meaningful conversation that is solely focused on the things most important to you with the purpose of helping you to make those things a reality. There are interventions woven into the discussion that are geared toward enhancing your understanding of your ways of thinking, patterns of responding, and opening up opportunities for new pathways to be forged. Progress is monitored regularly so that you are able to not only see your growth and improvement, but also build confidence as you challenge yourself in a variety of ways.
Take the Next Step
The best way to get to the destination is to start the journey. Your journey begins with an email or phone call to schedule an appointment or brief telephone consultation with Weksner Psychotherapy.
Prior to your first appointment, you will be asked to complete an intake packet which will be sent to you via email and can be returned electronically.
Initial appointments typically last longer than follow up sessions as there is more information to gather and history to review. You will help identify and create clear goals for your therapeutic experience so that progress can be measured along the way.
Moving Forward
Once engaged in therapy, sessions will occur on a regular cadence. Typically sessions start out weekly or every other week. Over time the interval stretches to best match your needs. Each person uses the goals they identified to help determine when they have reached the end of their episode of therapy.
If you have questions at any point in your therapy, please ask.
Information shared within the session is confidential except for matters related to safety. Details of confidentiality, as well as privacy for minors, will be reviewed at the initial session.
